Exclude non-relevant values from F4 help in BW Report

Hello Experts,

We are having junk values for Material, Material Group and Ext.Mat Group chars.

Against all junk chars key figure values are coming blank so from report output we can exclude those records using Query Property Setting.

But in F4 these junk values will appear. How can we exclude/restrict these values from F4?

There are lot of values so cannot apply filter as well.

Please suggest.

Thanks,

Bhavin Vyas

Hi Bhavin,

you can delete those unwanted entries from master data itself. You can find many threads on SCN for same.

You can simply rigt click on the master data object(e.g. 0MATERIAL) and select the option delete master data. with this option all the unused master data entries will be deleted.

Also, this will provide you list of infoproviders which contain the bad master data records.

you can use this list to investigate why these bad records have come to master data in the first place. this will give you an opportunity to correct any logic problems or incorrect input data from source system.

you will need to delete data from those infoproviders to remove these entries from master data.

after you correct the logic or receive correct entries from source then those records will not reoccure in your system.

I have also seen some developer write logics to delete these records directly from P and M table.

for e.g. delete * from /bi0/pmateral where Lang = ' ' .

this will definately remove all the bad entries from your master data but the end results are debatable as sometimes it affects the working of SID table and data display in query output.

also the infoprovider that contain these bad characters may continue to bring such records in future which will again be added to master data.

Chose your option wisely.

Hope this helps.

-Swati.

Hi,

you can try the F4 Badi for your own logic for deciding what is junk or not.

Hi,

you can exculde the all unassined values for the report output

select the Material, Material Group and Ext.Mat Group -> put it in filter panel -> selec the any object (Material, Material Group and Ext.Mat Group) -> right click -> restrict -> drag the unassined values -> use the exculde funciton.

now records it not avalible at report output.
