Hey all, I'm the IT guy for a new client. (I'm also new to Crystal Reports). They want to change the computer that Crystal Reports is installed on. So I need to get the license key out of the registry. I've been instructed on how to do that, but I need to get Crystal Reports launched as the first step. For some reason, it's not launching anymore (I've never seen it launched). The splash screen loads, but it doesn't move past that.
Is there another way I can get the license? Or should I troubleshoot the existing install and get it running again?
Also, they're having me install it on a local server, instead of a workstation. Do I only need to install CR on the server? Or will I need to transfer a database over?
Thanks for your help!
Phil
Hi Phil,
What version of Crystal Reports is this?
You need to start CR to get the license key out of the registry.
For CR 2011, on a 64-bit machine, the license key is under:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARES/Wow6432Node/SAP BusinessObjects/Suite XI 4.0/Crystal Reports/Keycodes/CR Dev
The string value, also contains a 'Date' towards the end of the string.
The Key is everything to the left of the ':'
