Issue in Action

Hi All,

We have added one field in the Top level details View. But due to that one Action is missed in the employee listing.

The below is the screen shot of the employee listing. After getting result on search, right click on the selected line there were three actions. but one is missing after the above changes. Version is 4.0 SP1. In listing there is no Link option. How to find out the configuration and resolve this issue.

Some clarification questions for you...

  1. What do you mean precisely by "We have added one field in the Top level details View"?  Do you mean you have added an additional field to the search fields or display fields in the employee listing?  Or are you referring to something else?
  2. What is the field you have added?
  3. Which action is missing in the listing result context menu (the right click menu)?
  4. Have you removed or excluded any fields in the employee listing?
  5. Are you seeing any errors in your cds.log when the context menu is displayed?

I'm also assuming that by "version is 4.0 SP1" you mean that this is OrgChart 4.0 SP1.

Regards,

Stephen.

Not Search Field. At the below place

Details Designer --> Top level details --> OrgUnitEmployeeDetail --> Position TAB --> Position and Org Unit Section --> Custom Field.

Which action is missing in the listing result context menu (the right click menu)?

"View In Position Structure" Action missed.

Have you removed or excluded any fields in the employee listing?

No

Are you seeing any errors in your cds.log when the context menu is displayed?

          NO

          Correct

Let's step through this a piece at a time with some screen shots to help clarify what we mean.  The screen shots below are from a 4.3 OrgChart system, but I think the menus are the same as for OrgChart 4.0 SP1 (though I may be mistaken on this).

First of all the actions menu for an employee listing looks like this:

These are actions that apply to the entire set of results in the employee listing.

The context menu for a single result looks like this:

You had used the term "employee listing", and whilst your query could still be to do with this, I think what you probably meant (looking at what you changed) was the "employee details panel".  The actions menu for that looks like this:

Note that there is only the option to view the employee profile by default - at least when the enabled organization structure (chart) is the org unit to position one.

However if you look at the corresponding position...

... the view in org chart option is available.

Is it possible you could have seen it in the position details panel rather than the employee details panel or that you have since disabled the org unit employee based chart?

If you think that an action is still missing, take a look at the linkconfiguration/OrgUnit*Detail.xml files, and in particular the <linkto> sections.  Compare these to the default files or to any copies you have from a previous export backup of your configuration where you believe the action was in place.

Hope that helps.

Regards,

Stephen.

Thanks Stephen for your detailed explanation.

But this is not the issue.Attaching the screen shots.

The above is the screen shot before the addition of the field.

The below is the custom field added.

After this addition of the field the Action is disappear for all the places.
