Archiving standard SAP tables that have append structures with custom fields

We have custom fields (append structures) in SAP standard tables,  I am curious what happens to the custom fields contents when I execute an SAP standard archive object ?  Is this handled within the standard archive object ?  If not, how do you recommend we do the archiving ?

appends are automatically archived together with the normal data. No extra customizing or action needed

Thank you Jurgen, does the same apply if we are creating DaRT extracts before we do any data archiving ?

I don't know, DART is with a different department in our environment.

What I remember from the early days of DART is that you need to create views that have all fields that you want in the extract. So I assume that you are fine if you added your append fields to the DART views, but it is just a vague assumption

Hi Paul,

DART has defined extraction structures, e. g. TXW_FI_HD for table BKPF. Only the fields in the structure are extracted.

But you can create additional data segments in transaction FTWQ and fill them using enhancement FTXW0002 in transaction SMOD.

Benedikt
