Installing TREX 7.1 on physical hosts

Hi all,

We are moving TREX 7.1  from VM to Physical hosts .

We have 1 master and 1 backup master and 4 slaves in VM total 6 VM , we are planning to have 2 physical hosts [ big ones nearly 75 gb ram and 16 CPU].

1-physical host : 1 Master +1 or  2 slave hosts  [  Master will be dedicated to indexing and slaves will server the search querys]

2-Physical host : 1 Backup master +1 or 2 Slave hosts .

I am going thru TREX 7.1 install doc and  in constraints SAP given as below for Distributed systems.

Constraints

Note the following constraints for distributed systems.

The TREX instances that form a distributed system must run on different hosts. You cannot

combine several TREX instances on the same host to form a distributed system.

I am not able to come to conclusion can we have the above 2 Physical hosts  scenario in our landscape does SAP support this or not.

Please suggest....

Thanks,

Subhash.G

Hi Subhash ,

no, such configuration isn't possible. You must have TREX instances installed on the separate hosts :
Master on the host 1 , Backup - host 2 , slave 1 - host 3.....   if all these instances should  join the
same TREX distributed landscape.
What's the scenario you want to use with TREX?

Best regards,
Mikhail

HI ,

We are planning to Distibuted landscape to have Master /Slave on Physical machine and another Backup master/Slave on another Physical host.

As per SAP and you guys if we  need to  have  different host names for Master & slaves  , can we have Multiple SID of TREX exists on one machine...

ex: TP1 & TP2 on same physical host

Can be above scenario TP1 & TP2 instances  Masters can exist on same physical host ?

Does TP1 & TP2 slaves  can exists on same physical host ?

Please suggest..

Thanks,

Hi Subhash ,

you can install TP1 and TP2 as two separate instances on each host. F.e. master TP1 and TP2 on host 1, slave TP1 and TP2 on slave1 ... e.t.c. It's not recommended from the performance point of view, however still possilbe. But you can not assign to the same landscape TP1 and TP2 instances. By the way, what#s the scenario where the TREX should be used?

Best regards,
Mikhail

Hi Subhash,

We have implemented the two Trex instances(it may be on either on physical host or vm), one in Primary and another in DR site. Kindly refer the below snapshot which will help you.

Hi Subhasan

I think if you want to do the installation Trex distributed it require minimum 4 physical systems.Check the installation guide before starting the process.

We have install the two physical system Trex instance with two different SID which is connected to a ECC system. business index objects are getting synced with help of Python script. From the primary Trex export the index object and import the same to secondary Trex.
