Creating server group for scheduling Webi report

Hi All,

I have 33 scheduled reports running in my BO 4.1 environment.

I want to split this in 3 groups and create server group to run specific job.
To achieve this what should I have to do ?

In group one what server and services should be there to run my schedule successfully ?

I thought of cloning server but my research says it is not good practice. Can someone please guide me with this ?

Hi Happy,

If you are implementing "Scheduling Server Group" funtionality then it will impact when your particular server goes down, below is the option for scheduling Weh Intelligence reports based on BW Applictaion.

Services Name:

• Adaptive Processing Server is having multiple services like "Auditing Service, BEx Web Applications Service, Client Auditing Proxy Service, Custom Data Access Service, Data Federation Service, Excel Data Access Service, Lifecycle Management ClearCase Service, Lifecycle Management Service, Monitoring Service, Multi Dimensional Analysis Service, Platform Search Service, Publishing Post Processing Service, Publishing Service, Rebean Service, Security Token Service, TraceLog Service, Translation Service, Visual Difference Service, Visualization Service": So if you have split the services with reference to below KBA then select that services and add it into New Server Group.

For Spliting of APS please refre below KBA

• Adaptive Job Server: Same is the case here also it contans many scheduling services like "Lifecycle Management,Crystal Reports 2011,Program,Web Intelligence,Publication,Replication,Monitoring Probe,Security Query,Crystal Reports,Destination,Visual Difference,Search,Authentication Update,Users and Groups Import":  So select particular services for e.g if you are scheduling Web Intelligence report then select Web Intelligence only.
• Web Intelligence Processing Server for Web Intelligence report
• Crystal report processing server for Crystal report

My Suggestion is better to create new Job Server for e.g if you have 33 Crystal reports then create new Crystal report Job Server below is the services required for Crystal Report Job Server" Crystal Reports - If you are using Crystal Reports for Enterprise or else Crystal Reports 2011 for other version.

Please do the same for Web Intelligence report create new Job server if you have cluster environment then create multiple Job Server .

Thanks a lot for your reply.

Do you think I should create 3 APS with only Publishing services, Post Publishing and log tracing services. and 2 Job servers - to run webi scheduled reports each each ?

I am sourcing data from SQL server.

Do you think to achieve my scheduling task in groups I need anything else apart from 3 APS ( containing above described services) and job servers ?

I Configured Adaptivejobservernew which I recently created to save reports in file system. I put all these new 3 server under one group.

I scheduled webi report to save as pdf on the desktop. ans selected below option while scheduling.  I forced my scheduling instance to use this group in Scheduling server group option and Web Intelligence Processing Setting option and scheduled it.

It is succeeding but It is writing me bank report. Can you please help me if I am missing on anything, I am very new so I might be making silly mistake or asking you silly question.

Please help me with this.

Please share the details regarding web intelligence report based on BW data or based on Universe (RDBMS) because in both the case Adaptive Processing Server configuration is change.

Thanks for your reply Daya,

the database which I am using here is SQL. by spitting APS as you mentioned above wont let me schedule reports using specific server group.

My query is I have 9 webi reports. I have grouped them in 3 groups.

so 3 groups containing 3 webi reports on SQL.

when I schedule reports I see below option : Scheduling Server group and Web intelligence process setting.

Report Group 1 must use scheduling server group 1 and web intelligence process server group 1.

Report group 2  must use scheduling server group 2 and web intelligence process server group 2

Report group 2  must use scheduling server group 2 and web intelligence process server group 3

In order to achieve this I dont know what processes should i include in scheduling server group 2 and web intelligence process server group.
