Hello Gurus,

is there a posible way to validate a database backup of MaxDB?

We have a SAP BI System with a DB of 184GB.

The backup of these are only 10GB.

Could this be real?!

regards

Chris

Hi Chris,

To validate the backup, you have to restore the backup to a testing system, then to compare the application tables with source system.

Why there is no date time for the file since April 1?

However usually backup should not have problem, so the question is how did you identify the data size of the source system?

Best regards,
James

Hello James,

the hint with the time was good. We found some errors in tsm logs.

It seems that the tsm connection disconnect in the time of backup.

We'll watch this.

Hi Chris,

If you are not sure the root cause after reviewing the maxdb log. You can attach the log file as below:

1. log on maxdb host and execute below command:

dbmcli -d <dbsid> -u <username>,<password> diag_pack

Afterwards you will find a file named diagpack.tgz under maxdb run directory, please attach this file to this conversation.

Best regards,
James
