Product Hierarchy

Dear Experts,

We want to use Product Hierarchy to capture three tier segments e.g.

Header Segment -> Segment -> Sub-Segment

No change in other config. Our sole purpose is to have MIS reports.

Query is does Product Hierarchy has any impact on other functionality.

Hi

If you want to use this only for reporting purpose then there is no harm in it. Infact it is good to use PH instead of material groups and creating reports using material groups. PH will fill data in sale order and invoice line item tables which you can use in your reports.

Hi Srinathan

It depends on what other places you use your product hierarchy.

For example, if you use PH, they will appear in all sales order items for each material. This part will not impact any other functionality.

You also have the flexibility of using your pricing based on the PH levels. If you use this, then PH impacts pricing. However if you dont consciously use PH for other features, it does not have any impact in other areas. You are free to use only product hierarchy without any impact.
