I have downloaded what I think are the correct files to update CR2008 sp3. The installers run w/o error but when I start CR2008 it displays the same old build numbers for SP3. What am I missing? My goal is to hopefully update Crystal Reports 2008 so that I am able to configure bar code labels for Dymo label 30321. Currently unable to ceate this label with Crystal Reports 2008 sp3.
Hi Dan
I'd like to make sure we are talking about the right SP for the right product. Mainly I wonder due to this post being in the SAP Crystal Reports, version for Visual Studio SCN Space, but the question appears to be about Crystal Reports 2008.
If you in the CR desinger you go to the Help menu and select About..., what is the exact version quoted here?
Where did you download the SP 7 from?

HI Ludek,
Thank you for the quick reply. This Crystal Reports copy was purchased outside of VS as a stand-alone copy.
The version from Help>>About is: 12.3.0.601
I downloaded from the SAP downloads page.
https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap%28bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==%29/bc/bsp/spn/patch_download/main_public.htm
The files downloaded and installed (after unzipping) were:
1.) CRMERGEMOD07_0-10007442.zip
2.) CRREDIST07_0-10007442.zip
3.) CRCLICKONCE07_0-10007442.zip
Hi Dan
Good. That all checks out. I'll move this post to the CR forum.
Can you try to run the install exe by right clicking on it and choosing "run as administrator"?
Also, please confirm the install exe is being run local on your computer, not from remote connection.
Oh, and see if turning off antivirus during the install will help.

Hi Dan
There should actually be an actual SP 7 install exe available for download. Unfortunately it is missing as is SP 5 and SP 6. The MSI is just for the .NET runtime DK. I suspect this updated a lot of your files to SP 7 (like crpe32.dll, export dlls, database dlls, etc., but that actual crw32.exe was not updated. I pinged the Program Manager for CR asking for help. I'll update this thread as soon as I get a response from him.

Hmmm- well, it's there now, but the direct link is here:
https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100004960852014D/CRYSTALREPORTS07_0-10007442.EXE
You should be able to download and run this even though the MSI was run already.

Hi Ludek,
Thank you for your persistence and help with this issue so far. I did download the sp7 from the above link, however I receive a message saying that the installed version is too low to update. Is this a sequential update (i.e. do I need to update to sp4, sp5, sp6 first in order?
Actual message: "Crystal Reports 2008 SP7 Update can not install because the version of the product on the system is too low."
Please advise. Thanks very much!
Ok, ok. Almost in there.
I'd like you to download SP 4. Direct link is this:
https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100009329462013D/CRYSTALREPORTS04_0-10007442.EXE
That will get you to SP 43, then try SP 7. If that does not help, download SP 5 (SP05 for CRYSTAL REPORTS 2008 V1) from that portal ( https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap%28bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==%29/bc/bsp/spn/patch_download/main_public.htm ). The try SP 7. Eventually SP 7 will install

It looks like you need to go in sequence i.e. sp4, sp5, sp6, sp7. That is fine I do have sp7 installing successfully now. Now to see if I can get a dymo 30321 label to print. I am confident it will.
BTW: this link works for all downloads:
https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap%28bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==%29/bc/bsp/spn/patch_download/main_public.htm
Thank you!!
