Hi,
while working on test system, sometimes we need a dimensions(partners, accounts, currency, flow) from productive system. So, to solve this issue we are making ful backup database of productive system and then resotore and use this productive system as a test system.
Is it possible to make a copy(backup) only the dimensions (without making the copy of whole productive system) and import this copied dimension from productive system to test system?
SAP BOFC(Financial Consolidation)10 sp10.
Hi Daulet
I would recommend you simply copy/paste the values through Excel
In BFC, highlight all the dimension members, and select "Edit", "Copy" and then paste them in Excel
Then, do the reverse on the Test system
Be careful with DB backup/restore - you can of course use some DB tools (SSIS package) to extract and import some data. Just be aware of any structural changes that may have been made. If, for example, you introduced a property on the dimension in Dev/Prod which does not exist in Test, using the DB backup/restore will mess things up

This may be because you already have existing dimension members in the target
Normally, when you use Excel to copy members, you leave the P_ID column empty, so that BFC issues this ID
I think what happens on your system, is that the P_ID column is not empty (as you copied it from PROD), but the ID does not exist in TEST
Try to either match the ID (in case you are modifying existing members) or empty the P_ID in the Excel (in case you are adding new members)
