Crystal Reports XI - Error on Windows 7 machine at runtime

Hi,

I have a Visual Basic 6 application that uses Crystal Reports XI.  Currently, the runtime version is installed however I'm not sure what service pack this is, I imagine it's the very first one, as it looks like a product from 2006.

Recently, our customers have been upgraded to Windows 7 and they're now experiencing the following error message when trying to print a Crystal Report:

"VB Error #2147189563 was generated by Crystal Reports ActiveX Designer

Basic syntax is not supported in group or record Selection Formula"

From reading some articles on here, you are either advised to upgrade to the latest service pack, or re work your code.

The line it looks like it's failing on is as follows:

        frmReport.rptCrystalRDC.RecordSelectionFormula = cSelectionFormula

        frmReport.rptCrystalRDC.PrintOut False, 1

The easiest option for us, is to upgrade to the latest service pack.

Could anyone please confirm whether this is the best idea?

And where I can find the latest service pack for Crystal Reports XI runtime, for a Visual Basic 6 application, trying to work on a Windows 7 operating system?

I've also included an attachment to show what Crystal Reports Runtime Version we're currently on.

Thank you for your time.

I've moved your post to the SAP Crystal Reports - Legacy SDKs SCN Space.

First, we need to find out is you are using CR XI (v. 11.0) or CR XI R2 (v. 11.5). The screenshot you added does not tell me anything at all. To find out the runtime version, see the file version of craxdrt.dll or crpe32.dll used by the app.

CR XI is not supported on WIN 7, CR XI R2 is / was. E.g.; both CR XI and CR XI R2 have been out of support for a few years now (e.g.; no fixes, etc.).

If you are using CR XI, you can update to CR XI R2. See the following for how to:

Now. Once you have CR XI R2, you will have to recompile the app and redeploy it as well as the CR runtime. The above referenced blog has links to the install as well as runtime msm files.

Hi Ludek,

Thanks for replying.

Here are the version details of the craxdrt.dll

File Version: 11.0.0.1282

Description: Crystal Reports ActiveX Designer Runtime Support

Copyright: Copyright (c) 1991-2005 Business Objects

Is there anyway we can upgrade without having to re-compile the app?  We're really looking to avoid that.

Thanks for your time.

No, you can not update without recompiling the app.

What issues do you anticipate recompiling the app?

Hi Jason,

Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 are new platform support additions in

Service Pack 3 which are only available for support on the SP3 full release

install of SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise. The SP3 patch only release of SAP

BusinessObjects Enterprise does not provide support for these two new

platforms.

Crystal Reports XI Release 2 with Service Pack 6 (v. 11.5.12.1838) is
supported on Windows 7.  Windows 7 is NOT supported with any other BOE XI R2
products.

You can download it from SAP Service Market Place.
