Hello Gurus,
There are standard specification categories in SAP EHS. Why there is no facility of creating/ configuring new specification category. Is there any specific reason.

Hi VM,
As was pointed out, the ones in the system are standard entries, but you can create additional ones if needed. But keep in mind: The further you customize your system away from the standard, the harder, more complex and more expensive it becomes to maintain. So evaluate well what you really need.

Dear V M
now using EHS for some time: there was no reason identified in the past to create a new spec. category. In 100% of the cases a new specification type was used
What is your business demand? The screen shown above indicates the options to create new catgeory if needed. But from my point of view: there is the "benefit"?? You must keep in mind that thios "core" customizing element has many effects in many subsequent activities; so if you create new one (new category) you should know what you do (but evene a newspecificaiton type is not "that" easy if you do not pay attention)

Dear Gurus,
I am in similar situation to create new specification category,
One of the business reasons for Specification Category is current entity for which we are using specifications , does not fit into Substance definition / nomenclature.
We want to use Specification Category to reflect clearly the entity we are configuring specifications.
Also we want to leave Substance category untouched to leave it for any future implementation in EH&S.
Are these reasons enough to configure new category?
Also Is Adapt initial screens configuration enough to take care of all EH&S functionality of Substance category? will it automatically take care of all other technical dependencies to behave same as substance.
Thanks and regards
Nik
