Restricting iView from opening in multiple windows

The requirement is to open iView in a new portal window. The problem is, when we click on the iView it opens in a new window but again when we click on the iView it opens in another new window. This way, if we click 10 times it opens in 10 new windows. Is there a way we can restrict the iView to only one window though it is clicked multiple times ? Please advise.

Thanks,

It is not  KM iview.

It is a webdynpro application related iView which is a default folder entry for every role. Some users want it that way and want it to open in a new window. Now the problem is, every time the user switches the roles this iView open in a new window as many times as the user switches roles.

If it is KM iView, can we achieve this.

Hello Sun,

There is a solution for this then:
Open iview properties--> check "Launch in New Window" property.

Here you will get 4-5 options, chose "Display in Portal Content Area".

It wont open in new window.

Thanks,

Sorry but my question is completely different to what you understood.

My requirement is to open an iView in a new window..but to restrict it from poping-up multiple times when ever it is clicked.

Its like.. you click on an iView and it opens in a new window which is perfect. But next time you click on the iView again then it should not open in a new window as it is already open.

Hi Sun,

If it is webdynpro abap application, try to launch the application as a pop up window, so that it opens in the same page as a pop up window, thus not allowing the user to click on the same link.

The problem here is ... business wants this iView as ''default entry to folder" for all the roles. So even if user doesn't click on it, the moment he clicks on the role this iView opens in a new window. Now if he goes back to another role then there also this iView will open.

If it is some kind of information, probably a short message of 20 - 30 lines, then it is better to create embed that message into a html page and embed this html page into all roles, so that it is displayed as a pop up message, when ever a role is clicked on, thus it doesnt allow any action to be performed on back ground.
