How to copy an SAP PCM system?

Hello colleagues,

We need to move our SAP PCM 1.0 system to another server.  Is there a procedure or any recommendations for doing this?  As an alternative, if we were instead to simply change the hostname, would there be any ramifications to PCM?  I know there would be some SQL Server configuration required.

All feedback is appreciated.  Thanks.

Kind regards.

Hi Rex,

Can you provide more details?  It sounds like your database server is remaining as-is, and you're just moving your app server.  If that is the case, you should be able to run the PCM Configuration Wizard from the new server to set it up to point to your existing database server.

The full PCM documentation is located here: SAP Profitability and Cost Management 10.0 – SAP Help Portal Page.

If you are starting from scratch with a new database as well, the process will be somewhat more involved, but it's not bad.  You'll need to create a new PCM database in SQL Server, connect to it from the new PCM application server, and then migrate models from your old PCM instance to your new one.  This is done by exporting the old models to XML one-at-a-time from the PCM Model Builder application, and then importing them into the new environment, also via the PCM Model Builder application itself.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for the reply.  Our PCM system is installed on a single server along with the SQL Server database.  We need to move or copy the system to another server.  I'm just looking for the easiest way to accomplish this.  As an alternative to a move or copy, would there by any ramifications to PCM is we were to rename the hostname of the server?
