Critical Path change based on actual confirmations

Hi....

After defining duration, relationships and constraints we schedule the project to derive Basic Dates, float and critical path.

During the project execution if

  1. Any of the activity from non-critical path consumes time beyond its plan and float.....and
  2. Actual duration confirmed is drastically higher than the plan....and
  3. The delay plus the planned duration of activities in the non-critical path exceeds duration of the critical path

Given this scenario, if we schedule the network after confirmation of any such activity....can we alter the critical path, considering actual time already confirmed and planned time of other unconfirmed activities.

In the attached example, critical path initially derived is 0010 > 0040 > 0110 > 0050 > 0060 > 0090 > 0140 (11 days). If activity 0100 which is planned for 1 days consumes 10 days, then critical path from project perspective would change to 0010 > 0040 > 0110 > 0100 > 0070 > 0080 > 0140 (13 days).

Can we derive new critical path in the system by scheduling the network after actual confirmation of 10h for 0100 ?

Awaiting expert suggestions...

Thanks in advance...

Yes,we can..

for this you need to reschedule your project once again.

Then the system will identify the critical path based on the longer duration by considering both planned and actual durations of activities.
