Want to learn SAP BPC

Dear Expert,

I am working as SAP FI Consultant and have 4.5 years of experience. I am thinking to learn SAP BPC but not getting any guidance.

Can anyone please answer below queries ?

1. Is it useful and beneficial for a FI Consultant to do BPC ?

2. Should i have complete knowledge of SAP BI/BO before leaning BPC ?

3. As a functional consultant which version of BPC i should learn ?

Hi Ansh,

Like any other SAP module, in BPC roles are like Functional , technical (developer) , techno - functional.

Basically for all roles of BPC you must to know product in n out.(my view)

As it more related finance processes,  finance background is more preferred for functional roles. (Strategic planning, Budgeting, Forecasting, Statutory consolidation, Reporting & analysis, Predictive analytics, Score carding).

You are from finance background then it will not take time to move from technical roles to techno functional and then functional as you gain the experience in above area.

Knowledge of business processes within the areas; Specific knowledge of at least one industry sector and knowledge of the associated SAP industry solution will be good. As you already have 4.5 years of experience it will be help you to transform into functional roles. for NW version of BPC 10.0 ,  It godd to have knowledge of BW BPC, it required for integration.

Good balance of technical and functional experience

Hi Kaushik,

1. Is it useful and beneficial for a FI Consultant to do BPC ?

     Yes it is very useful for a FI Consultant to do SAP BPC because it is the latest version of Planning and Consolidation from SAP .

2. Should i have complete knowledge of SAP BI/BO before leaning BPC ?

    No need of Complete knowledge of SAP BI/BO ; basic knowledge is sufficient to learn SAP BPC.

3. As a functional consultant which version of BPC i should learn ?

    BPC has versions from 5.x,7.x,10.x. Now in market SAP BPC 10.0 is using you learn that one.it will be helpful to you.

1. BPC consultants > FI consultants

2. You don't need SAP BI/BO to become a BPC functional consultant. but some SAP BI knowledge will help you to become a better BPC consultant.

3. BPC 10 Netweaver version, or BPC 10.1 standard version.
