Is there any way to drive two day lead time in APO

Former Member

Hi Experts,

we have one issue , If a product goes into negative stock the system is planning to receive the stock on the same day that the stock is required, but we need to be able to supply this with a two day lead time.

The planning is happening at vendor location.

Can anyone please let me know if there is a function in APO master data that would drive this.

Thanks in advance.

Maddy,

Pretty vague question.

First:

Which planning engine are you using in APO.  PP/DS?  SNP?  CTM?  Optimizer?   Or......?

Next:

What do you mean when you say 'planning is happening at vendor location'?  Do you mean you will receive materials shipped from the vendor location?  Or, are you shipping materials to the vendor?   Or....?

Next

What do you mean by 'two day lead time'?  Do you mean that the materials should be released from the source to the destination two days earlier than the demand date?  Or, do you mean that the materials should arrive at the destination two days earlier than the demand date?  Or two days later than the demand date?  Or.....?

Hi Dogboy,

First of all for sorry for not providing all the details.

we are using APO -DP,SNP and PPDS.

we are running MRP for the subreq's and Pur req's are created.

we receive materials shipped from the vendor location.

Yes, the materials should be released from the source to the destination two days earlier than the demand date.

Please let me know if you need more details.

Thanks in advance.

Hello Maddy,

You can use the safety stock method SZ, number of safety days as 2, so system will planned the receipts 2 days earlier than demand

SZ - Safety days' supply from location product master:

The safety stock is determined on the basis of the value in the "Safety days' supply" field from the location product master data (the "Lot size" tab page). The unit of this value is always workdays.

Hi Brahmankar,

We are using safety stock method 'SB'.

Do we have to replace this with SZ?

where do you see this figure sitting in Location or sending location or vendor?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

Yes you have to replace SB with SZ method along with Safety Days’ Supply. You need to have it on planning location.

Hi Brahmankar,

X- sending location of the donor stock

Y - Receive the donor stock (this is the location  the Pur req's  dates don’t match) -

Requirement is to get the stock in this location with 2 days lead time.

From location Y the stock is send to the vendor(the dates match here).

Can you please suggest if we have any  functionality in APO  to drive the requirement.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

yes we have tried but it dint work.

I have a question, safety days supply linked to how much stock we need to hold of a product at a site, which relates to how much demand they have, so setting this figure(safety day's) as a 2 will have no affect at all, as they don’t hold a forecast and we don’t run SNP or deployment over this site.

Please advise.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Maddy,

The safety stock solution provided by expert Brahmankar is the good one. I would like to add that the safety stock parameters can be transferred from ECC system. At product level, tab MRP2 in the Net Requirement Calculation section you have to maintain parameters Safety time ind - 2 and Safety time/act.conv - xx days (2 days for you). The SZ safety stock should be automatically populated during the transfer.

Thanks,

Hi Maddy,

This can be done by maintaining 2 days Pick time in the scheduling using the condition technique.

This link can give you basic idea how it can be used-

Scheduling Using the Condition Technique - Scheduling - SAP Library

You can go to transaction-  SAPCND/AU11 and create condition records for scheduling for specific Shipping points or Shipping point/Ship to party.

Thanks,

Mohit
