Hi Folks,

I have a requirement where i need to lock the particular cell and i did that using formatting sheet,

Now the thing is when user select/insert/change that cell it is showing error message,

"The cell or chart you are trying to change is protected and there fore read only. To modify...."

Please help me...how to avoid this message.

and i want that protected data(numbers)  should come in light Gray colour.

Thanks in advance for your inputs

Sorry, but is it a joke?

"I have a requirement where i need to lock the particular cell and i did that using formatting sheet"

Ok, cell lock means that when the sheet is protected this cell is read only! And:

"The cell or chart you are trying to change is protected and there fore read only. To modify...."

Is absolutely correct!

Light grey - apply on the same formatting sheet....

Hi Mohammed,

It's standard functionality, As far as know its not possible to disable pop up.

But may be you can achieve this by VBA.

This message is an Excel message (not EPM) - you can't avoid it!

Another option is to use Excel Data validation - but in this case you will also have pop-up message.

Recommendation - live with it!
