Adaptive processing service stuck in initializing

Former Member

Hi,

We have Business objects XI 3.1 SP1 FP 7 installed. When we are restarting SIA as a regular process, adaptive processing service on one of the two nodes stucks in initializing everyday. If that service is terminated manually and started again it comes back immediately, however when we try to restart hung service after a while it requires 3-5 attempts. SIA restart at any other time of the day is less troublesome, however as users come online at other time of the day, we cannot change restart time.

What can be done in this case ? Why adaptive processing services goes into initializing? Sometimes the services gets PID and some times not. However it hangs in either of the cases,

Thanks

This might occur when APS having difficulty in connecting to the proper host to find the server.

Instead of using Auto assign where the server accepts requests on the first available IP address, select Hostname and reference the fully qualified hostname instead:

  1. Login to CMC as administrator
  2. Click Servers
  3. Right-click <node>.AdaptiveProcessingServer and select Properties
  4. Scroll down to Common Settings
  5. Under Host Identifiers, select Hostname and enter the fully qualified hostname
  6. Click Save & Close
  7. Click Core Services
  8. Right-click <node>.CentralManagementServer and select Properties
  9. Scroll down to Common Settings
  10. Under Host Identifiers, select Hostname and enter the fully qualified hostname
  11. Click Save & Close
  12. In Central Configuration Manager (CCM), restart the Server Intelligence Agent (SIA)

Let us know if it fix the issue.
