BOM is recursive error

Hi All,

We have a scenario,

In BOM for material -1,we can find component material -2,

In Item details for component material -2, The recursive allowed check box is checked and this implies that the component material -2 further can have BOM component for material -1.

In spite of this we are still getting “BOM is recursive” error when we create a BOM for material -2 with component material -1.

Further when we check in STPO Table (BOM item) details for material -1 at Plant level we can find the component material -2.

And for material -2 there is no component material -1. Whereas for material -2 in STPO Table (BOM item) details for material -2 in Plant level we can find there is no component material -1.

On running CSRC_TRACE transaction we can find the BOM number 00056946. And if we further check this in STPO table with reference to this BOM number for material -2 in Plant level we can find there is component material -1 for which the validity date is in past and it is a expired BOM.

Can any one please help us why we are receiving this "BOM is recursive" error in spite of the recursive allowed check box is checked and in current period in STPO table records doesn't contain material -1 as component for material -2.

Refer consulting note 42891 - Recursion check for  The effective (date effectivity or parameter effectivity) is not taken into account.

Hi Lokesh,

BOM recursion happens when you have same header material as BOM component.( for example header material 2 used in BOM component again as 2).  To overcome this you have BOM recursive indicator in item details screen which can be checked.
