Issues accessing global BW variant in Analysis 2.0- need to be saved in 1.4 first to be used in 2.0

Hi,

We are planning to move from 1.4.8 to 2.0 analysis.

One is able to access BW variant(DB based) but in analysis 2.0 when we select same variant ,we get message unable to apply variable.

Found a way but is crude.

First one has to save Global variant in 1.4(variant is overwritten with same values) then only it can be used by 2.0

The trouble is we have hundreds of variant which are required. Do we have go manually go and save in 1.4 to be used in 2.0 ?

Do we have any other sols ? Want to avoid this clerical work on saving each variant in 1.4 then to be used in 2.0.

Thanks,

Regards,

Pramod.

Hi Pramod Puthenpurayil Sivadas,

Are you using the Analysis for Office 2.0 SP3?

I tested the scenario with the SP3 and works as expected.

Hi Pramod,

Are you using the same user that created the variant?

It can be related to the user authorization or variant setting.

Hi Diego,

I don't think there could be access issue as we able to access variant in 1.4.8

One gets "Unable to load variant " pop up message. when one tries to load  a variant .

But if we save variant in 1.4.8(note: there is no issue with variant in 1.4.8 either saved or not saved) prompt with same values only after which we are able to use it in 2.0.2/3

We uninstalled 2.0.2 and installed with 2.0.3 and tried doing same.

Thanks,

Regards,

Pramod.

Hi Pramod,

You can confirm this information by recording a RSTT trace and also by checking the transaction SU53.

To the RSTT trace, refer to the SAP notes 899572 and 1925924 and after that go to the RSTT trace tool, find the trace ID and click on "direct". Check if the trace contains some redlight.

On SU53 just check if you have some authorization message.
