Design Studio 1.5 Installation Errors

Hello all,

I have been trying unsuccessfully to upgrade to Design Studio 1.5 and have come to a point where I need help

My computer runs on:

Windows 7 Enterprise Service Pack 1

64-bits Operating System

Internet Explorer 11

8.00 GB RAM

I have followed the steps below:

- Uninstall Design Studio 1.4 (64 bit) client tool

- Install Design Studio 1.5 (64 bit)* client tool as Administrator

- Installation runs with no problems

*I have tried installing also the 32-bit version, with the same result)

Problem

When I try to open Design Studio I get a user interface that looks incomplete:

an it's unresponsive (clicking on New Application or Open Application does nothing)

When I kill the DS Task I get this error message:

which seems to hint a Java or Out of Memory error, but I doubt that is the case.

Looking at the PAM: https://websmp209.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/012002523100008450702015E

I can't see any reason for the installation to not work (there is no reference to a minimum RAM memory requirement)

I have checked and I seem to have Java Version 1.8 installed

Design Studio (64-bit) 1.4 worked with no problems

I wonder where would I find logs for this installation?

Any help or pointers are appreciated

Hi,  please check your Registry, regarding the following entry :

\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432\Node\SAP\SAPLogon\LandscapeFormatEnabled = 0

If this Key is set to 1 , SAP Gui 7.40 will use the new SAPUILandscape.xml format and not the old .ini files.

Set key to 0 and try it again.

Hi Carlos/Karol,

I have upgraded from DS 1.5 from 1.4 and restarted the system once all the addin migrated from previous versions.After restarting i am unable to open the DS,the following error occurs.

Please advise accordingly.

I have tried installing the DS 1.5 wihout uninstalling 1.4 but was unsuccesful in my attempt.

It just logged out showing 133 errors.

Hi,

try to delete your Application-workspace and Application-config folders.

Installation does not start, currently the solution is to backup and remove 2 folders in user folder:

• folder: %USERPROFILE%\Analysis-config
• folder: %USERPROFILE%\Analysis-workspace

perhaps there is something specific in the fodlers.

Help -me Please

We having install DS 1.5 on server windows 2008 64bit with BI do SAP BusinessObjects 4.1 Support Pack 4 Patch 3 Version: 14.1.4.1448   this installation  finish with sucessfully in this server windows. THis instalations is visible in the Control Panel Programs.

But the Design Studio 1.5 not show in the SBO CMC option Application, Any suggestions on how to solve this issue?

Hi,

Try the following step:

1. Go to C Drive -> Program Files -> SAP Business Objects ->Design Studio -> SapDesignStudio.ini

2. Open the .ini file in notepad or any other editor

3. Locate -Xmx1024m and change it to -Xmx512m

Save the file and try to open the application again. If this does not work then do the following:

4. in the same ini file locate jre/bin/SapDesignStudioVM.exe and delete the line.

I had the same issue and this trick worked for me. Let me know if this helps.

P.S.- You might need to have admin rights on your machine to edit any file under Program Files so keep that in mind.

I am not sure if I can help on the above - but I wonder this:

Why uninstall 1.4?  I recommend applying the support patch for 1.5 on top of 1.4 and that should work.

Anyway - please search SCN for the Java return code - there are some discussion threads on this issue that should help.

I will try installing 1.4 again and see if upgrading instead of re-installing works better

I tried the incremental upgrade and I am getting to the same problem, only this time the interface looks a bit more complete but still the welcome page doesn't show and the program is unresponsive
