Hi All,
We are going to install SAP BODS 4.2 and information steward in suse linux system and we don't have CMC as we have not installed IPS or SAP BO.
Please give me an overview about the installation steps in linux system.
Thanks,
Sunil
Hello Sunil,
This is Julie from SAP Product Support.
Before you install DS/IS 4.2 you must have a CMS/CMC in place. It is recommended you use IPS, not the BI Platform (what you call SAP BO) as BI Platform is patched at a different rate than IPS and often newer BI patches are not certified for use with DS/IS until much later.
Refer to KB article 1740516 for the latest information on supported versions (paste link below into your browser, you must have a valid s-user id to access this KBA):

Here is the location of all the DS 4.2 documentation (paste into your browser):

Pay special attention to the Master Guide, which will help you plan out your deployment, as well as the Installation Guide for UNIX
Here is the location of all the IS 4.2 documentation (paste into your browser):

Also review the IS Installation Guide for UNIX.
Thank you,
Julie

Hello julie
Thanks for sharing the above info.
In our environment we have (IPS + IS + DS) on Linux one machine with Web apps(Tomcat) and ASE(Repository) on individual separate machines.
Everything is Clustered and HA.
Can you please help me out if you have any pattern book similar to the below:
Linux System Landscape Overview - Business Intelligence (BusinessObjects) - SCN Wiki
http://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/BIP+on+Linux+with+Tomcat+and+Sybase+ASE+Pattern+Book
Please let me know if you need any info
Thanks
Mahesh.
