IPS 4.1 SP05 installation problem

Former Member

Hi All,

I am trying to install

IPS 4.1 SP5 on

Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise.

During the installation, I encountered an error,

SAP Business Objects binary has stopped working.

I checked the windows event viewer where I could find the below error.

Faulting application name: CMS.exe, version: 14.1.5.1501, time stamp: 0x54613793
Faulting module name: libOCAHelperw-5-0.dll, version: 14.1.5.1501, time stamp: 0x54612aee

Exception code: 0xc0000005

Report Id: 2f114a12-35d5-11e5-a541-000c29e79509

I already had IPS 4.1 SP2 installed on the machine, which I believed was corrupt, and so decided to uninstall, and install a higher service pack.

I had an IP address entry in the hosts file under "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc" for the previous installation, which I have removed now.

Currently the installation is stuck at 'Waiting for the Central Management Server to start'.

How do I install the IPS 4.1 SP 5 successfully?

Thanks,

Update

The installation did complete but said it had errors.

I did some research and followed the steps mentioned in this link to completely uninstall the IPS from my machine.

I then again started to install the IPS 4.1, but again the same issues of 'SAP Business Objects Binary has stopped working'.

This time the Event Viewer shows the following error

Faulting application name: cms.exe, version: 14.1.5.1501, time stamp: 0x54613793

Faulting module name: unknown, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x00000000

Any ideas?

Did you run BOE.exe or IPS.exe? Also have you checked the network? Are they in the same domain? Are you able to ping your DB servers? Did you set up 64 bit ODBC connection?

Hi,

Did you run BOE.exe or IPS.exe?

I ran setup.exe for IPS 4.1 SP5.

Also have you checked the network? Are they in the same domain? Are you able to ping your DB servers? Did you set up 64 bit ODBC connection?

They are on the same server. The database is up and running and am able to ping it. Yes I did setup 64 bit ODBC connection for a local SQL Server database.

Meanwhile, I suspected something incompatible between the Windows Server and SP5.

So I decided to install a lower service pack.

I downloaded SP3, which installed without any errors.

Any idea what is causing SP5 not being compatible with our server?

Thanks,

I do not see a reason why it cannot be installed. Let us know if you come across some thing.

Sure. Will let you know.

Meanwhile, I was looking for some information about Microsoft patches compatibility with IPS.

Is there any information about the same? Like some windows patches should/shouldn't be existing for IPS to function properly?

Thanks,

The only thing i could find based on a quick search is this KB941105. This seems to be a critical patch.
