Hi All,
We have installed SAP NW 7.4 ABAP system and expectation was to install SAP ECC 6.0 EHP4 . The system shall anyway be refreshed again using databse copy later from our preprod system which is SAP ECC 6.0 EHP4 .
Please let us know if there is going to be any difference in terms of Database tables /any functionalities with we installing SAP NW 7.4 ABAP system rather than SAP ECC 6.0 EHP4. We assumed since the database shall be refreshed later so there should not be any difference . please confirm.
This is abit urgent . Please revert ASAP.
Regards,
Somya

The best solution here is to re-install or do a system copy of an EHP4 system (source) to the target system. The kernel used by a 7.4 release SAP system is not compatible with an EHP4 system.
The profiles in a 7.4 based system contains not START profile.
The best option in your case is to download the SWPM and start the System copy - Target system creation using DB specific backup and restore and setup the target system.
Restore the database when the installer prompts and continue with the post copy operations.

One additional note: ECC (of any EhP version) is not installed as an add-on to a NetWeaver ABAP system. You install ECC instead of NetWeaver ABAP (ECC includes NetWeaver ABAP). So, there is no purpose to installing NetWeaver first, then installing ECC over the top of it. There is also no purpose to installing anything from SAP ahead of a system copy (except perhaps diagnostics agents and your database platform), as SWPM will itself install the target system as part of the system copy process.

Hi Somya,
You need to upgrade your current ECC 6.0 EhP4 to EhP7 (which runs on SAP NW 7.40 ABAP).
If you have a NW 7.40 ABAP system, then most of the ECC software components are NOT present.
Please use SUM to upgrade the system correctly.

Cris

Well, your assumption is partially right.
Yes, the database will be gone if you restore it, so that is not important but you should check the installed SAP Kernel for compatability.
What is you Kernel in the installed SAP Netweaver 7.4? I guess at least 7.40. Right?
What is the supported SAP Kernel for the EHP 4 ERP 6? (you can refer to PAM for this)
If not compatible (I guess that is the case), you could restore the DB and then use an appropriate Kernel.

Is kernel 7.40 not comapatible with NW 7.40, please can you share which kernel versions are supported ?
No, that is not the problem. Kernel 7.40 is compatible with NW 7.40.
You can check PAM for Kernel for EHP4 ERP6:
https://apps.support.sap.com/sap/support/pam
If you check PAM EHP4 ERP6 is not compatible with Kernel 7.40.
