SAP HANA Cloud Platform runs on SAP public cloud at the moment. Running in other cloud environments is in the roadmap (e.g. via Cloud Foundry), but no concrete dates yet.
You can integrate your cloud account in HANA Cloud Platform with any SAP or non-SAP system.
When you say any SAP system can be integrated, can we access all SAP GUI transactions and Web Dynpro components (of ECC) in HCP (like supported in EP). or do we need to develop their corresponding UI5 Apps?
I read in the documentation (dated 2014) that this feature was not available at that time, however it might be available in future. so would like to know any latest development on this.
The best practice is to develop the UI layer in the cloud using SAP UI5 and connect to your backend systems with the available APIs to fetch the data.You can find more details in our developer guide under this link.
Gone through the developer guide on the way of connecting to back end system (CRM as an example). However could not locate anything in particular to integrating the Enterprise Portal.
Being a platform (EP), will the integration be similar to that of with any other back end system?
In that case, will we be able to access all of the Enterprise portal applications (Web Dynpro's) on the cloud portal.. just as we are accessing them on portal.
In the near future you will be able to launch Web Dynpro apps from FLP that runs on HCP.
This concept allows you to run legacy apps within a modern cloud based site however it has it's limitations that comes with the Web Dynpro technology like not supported in mobile etc.
