Hi

I do not think sales order stock will be considered while calculating dynamic safety stock   .

Its not possible unless the stock has been transferred to Unrestricted stock .( 311E)

Generally , MRP consider following type of stock (OPPQ) - Unrestricted , Block , Stock In transit .

Any Sales Order Stock will be treated under MTO process .Where as when you calculate the Dynamic  Safety stock , it goes by ADR/ROC   and ROC  which is based on Current Stock /average usage per day .Here in the current stock , sale order specific stock is not included .

Hello,

Can you please explain why you need to have a safety stock for sales order stock ?

Sales order stock is special stock which is specific for the sales order itself.

Safety stock is defined to be used in case of emergency.

Hi

Sales Order Stock is special stock (E) to specific customer demand .You do not  need to create a separate Safety Stock because your  fixed demand comes from Sales Order it self and requirement pass into planning through requirement type & class  to production from sales .

Now safety stock does not depend on the source of demand ( Sales Order etc ) .Its totally based on the service level percentage  over the period and your consumption pattern ( let say 18 months sales consumption ) .
Basically , you need the safety stock when you have any un-expected demand and you wanted to meet certain percentage of the demand using safety stock supply to customer .

In this context , even you keep the manual safety stock in MRP2 view for certain customer  material and you may be able achieve some percentage of service level till you complete the total demand  .But risk will be , the same stock can be of excess without any usage if the production is customer (MTO) depending on your actual business process.
