Attempt to read or write protected memory

Hi all,

We are facing the problem that a user is getting the following screen:

We have tried the SAP Note:

http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/2002838

This note suggests un-checking "Enable multi-threaded calculation", but it is not the solution.

We are using BPC 10.1 NW, any ideas how to fix this?

Thanks!

Hi Jaco,

Is it reproducible? On a number of computers?

What is your EPM SP? NET?

Computer OS?, MS Office version?

Hi Vadim,

The same user get's it every time.

I tried looking at the input sheet, but it's not that, I was able to save successfully.

So far it it just the one user facing this problem, which does not make sense.

EPM SP21, BPC NetWeaver.

MS Office 2010, but I don't know the OS, I'll ask her and reply as soon as I have the details.

I was just hoping this is a known issue, but the SAP note solution does not work, we tried it.

Thanks,

Jaco.

Hi Vadim,

Sorry for the late response,

This only happens on the users' pc. (only that pc).

PC details: Windows 7 - 64 bit.

Office: 2010 - 32 bit.

EPM SP21 - Netweaver.

Error is not reproducible...

Thanks,

So it seems, i also got the user to send me a print  screen of the system details.

Only 4.0GB RAM... BPC recommendation is 8GB right?

4.0GB is fine... the issue is not the size but chips quality... replace memory for test!

She is due for an upgrade, to a new laptop, but that is still in the next 3 months.

But basically, for me to solve this, I can just say it is hardware related?

"I can just say it is hardware related?" - Yes!

But it's 5 minutes to replace memory if they have spare memory...

Hi Vadim,

Unfortunately it is not as simple as that, approval needs to be done and a lot of paper work must be completed for this to happen.

So for now I think the user must use a different computer.

Thanks again for your help, appreciate it!

Hi

Have other users (or e.g. you through any remote application) tried to work on this machine , if yes, have they also received that error?

No, we have not....

I would suggest to try it ASAP, if the error is not user-depended and happens on this machine only, kindly ask her local IT guys to test computer's memory for physical problems.

So far it seems that it is a computer issue....

We are investigating it, will inform if something comes up.

ask this user to try on another pc with her log on details, I think her PC's memory is faulty.
