SAP APO/ECC Queue

Hello,

We are trying to prevent our detailed scheduling system from scheduling a work order to end on one machine and start on the next one in the same second.  For example it will schedule the work order to end operation 10 on 8/4 @ 12:00:00 and start the next operation 20 on 8/4 @ 12:00:00.  How can we accomplish this?  We have tried using minimum queue times, however, it doesnt seem to honor the minimum queue's.

Jason,

Are you using PPMs or PDSs?

Jason,

Did you try entering minimum intervals in the PPMs?

Hello Jason

There could be various reasons for this to occur. If there are multiple operations and all are constrained it is difficult to achieve a schedule without any gaps.

Suppose for operation 1 it takes 3 mins and operation 2 it takes 2 min then operation 2 is bound to have gaps...if operation 2 is closely fit in backward scheduling. See the chart below.. I have tried my best for a graphical representation ... the second order will have a gap in the operation 1 and 2.

operation 2            **==

operation 1     ***===

However you can see the consulting note 397989 which tries to address the same issue. Questions 6,7,8,9.

Also you can explore the functionality of stretching and shrinking operations as described in sap help in the following link:

Stretching and Shrinking Operations - Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling (PP/DS) - SAP Libr...

Ok, so is queue in front of or behind the work center?

Hello,

Ok, so is queue in front of or behind the work center?

Did not get your question.. its a gap between 2 operations we are talking about. As per the note there is a way to control this gap... refer section 6 solution which says....

The only way of avoiding the gaps is to incorporate maximum intervals to the relationships between the activities. When the maximum interval is zero, activity B follows directly on activity A.

Note

=======

Maximum intervals in the relationships must be used with caution. If both activities are finite, serious scheduling problems can occur. For more detailed information, see section 9.

Expert DB49 has already shown you where to maintain these values...
