Ship Bin

Hi All,

Can anyone suggest the best process to setup a ship bin facility?

The issue relates to the fact that sometime Inventory is picked but not shipped immediately. There seems to be no process in B1 to enable Inventory to be moved to a ship bin awaiting delivery.

The requirement is for a location into which Inventory can be moved before delivery so that that Inventory is no longer available.

Looking forward to your response.

Regards

Earl

Hi

are your items managed by batch numbers? You can asign the batch number and the bin location in the sales order.

when do you decide a delivery is ready?

Perhaps with an UDF in delivery you can allow create the delivery.

Kind regards

Hi Agustin,

Many thanks for the ideas. However, this will not work. The Inventory is not managed by Batch or Serial Numbers.

In most warehouse operation when inventory is picked they are moved to a shipping location (ship bin) ready for dispatch, to ensure that no one else can allocated the Inventory to another order. This is the requirement that is required.

Hi

Some questions:

when do you create the delivery note?

When the items are in the shipping location?

After picking?

Do you want to know the stock in the shipping location?

Are you using mobile devices to process the sales orders?

Kind regards.

Hi Agustin,

Answers to questions are as follows:

Delivery are created after the Pick, there are no options for the pick process to move the picked stock to a Ship Bin.

There is not Ship Location on the system, this is just an area within the Warehouse

Yes, the Delivery is created after picking.

Yes, there requirement is to have a ship location so that the contents re known and the good are finally delivered from that location.

No, mobile devices are currently in use, this is to be implemented at a later date.

Hi

I understand your process in this way:

1. You record a new sales order.

2. The sales order is processed by one user.

3. This user picks all items and leaves in the drop ship.

4. The user records the delivery note copied from the sales order.

If any step is wrong, please post.

In SBO:

1. You record a new sales order.

2. You release the sales order to pick process.

3. The user picks.

4. The user records the delivery note.

I would use an stock transfer after picking process from item bin to ship bin. After this, in the delivery note you have to choose always the ship bin to maintain the right stock.

If you know SDK, you can create an UDT to save the quantity for item and bin you are picking in each order. You have to delete this rows when the delivery note is created. And you have to make a FMS to show the real stock minus the sum of reserved quantity for item and bin.

Kind regards.
