HANA and LVM

Hello,

is there a special filesystem layout required to for SAP HANA to rename it via LVM (hdbrename) ?

I guess /usr/sap/<HANASID> as an NFS mountpoint is a problem because LVM will mount this on a new target system to /usr/sap/<HANASID_Target> and after that hdbrename has a problem because it states that the Target SID already exists.

Could you please help?

Thank you!

Best Regards,

Andreas

Hello Andreas,

when (re)attaching a HANA DB the files under /usr/sap/<HANASID> are being deleted and created from scratch. Especially when trying to share this /usr/sap/<HANASID> between nodes you might run into issues. Therefore /usr/sap/<HANASID> is both local and created by the HANA DB itself.

You might be familiar with the "classical" HANA Storage Design described in Note 1900823's attachment. What acutally is being shared in a setup like this is

  • Shared
  • Data
  • Log
