How to prolong A-Office Timeout?

Hi Everyone,

My A-Office workbook timeouts in 15 minutes. Can anyone tell me how to increase this time?

My landscape is - Front end: AO 2.0, Platform: BIP 4.1 SP5, Back end: HANA 1.0 SP9 Rev 95

I have already tried below suggestions with no success -

1) <Install DIR>\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\tomcat\webapps\BOE\WEB-INF - <session-timeout>#</session-timeout>: changed # from default 20 to 60

This did not help, hence undone above and moved to 2

2) <Install DIR>\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\tomcat\webapps\dswsbobje\WEB-INF\classes\dsws.properties -  By default there is no session.timeout parameter in this file. Inserted one line "session.timeout=2400"

Even after above change - AO was idling out after 15 minutes, hence done below change in conjunction with above

3) <Install DIR>\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\java\pjs\services\DSWSbobjeService  - By default there is no session.timeout parameter in this file. Inserted one line like session.timeout=2400

Does anyone have any new suggestion apart from above?

Thanks,

Rohan

Thanks Tammy, Thomas & Micheal for providing helpful hints.

Found the solution!

http connection of A-Office is based on http server of HANA XS server. By default in 15 minutes, HANA http server time outs and hence the related A-Office workbook.

To reconfigure it –

Go to, HANA Studio > Administrator perspective > Configuration > xsengine.ini > httpsever

By default you will not see ‘sessiontimeout’ parameter, hence you need to add it.

To add, right click on ‘http server’ > Select ‘add Parameter..’ > Select ‘System’  in drop-down > Click ‘Next’

In box marked as key, paste this text sessiontimeout

In box marked as Value, paste integer value in seconds (e.g. 1800 for 30 minutes)

Click ‘Finish’

A-Office timeout will be extended.

Note:  Do not set this parameter to unreasonably high value.

Longer the ‘sessiontimeout’, higher the consumption of system resources.

I would also check the what timeouts there is set on the servers in CMC, then I would look into what is the timeout for http connection to the HANA.

But it pleases me, that you did adjust the tomcat session time first.

Many forget that, or forget that it can be overwritten when you do a SP upgrade

Rohan - which SP are you on?

Is there any chance you could try this with Analysis Office 2.1, the latest version?

Thanks Tammy,

I am using AO 2.0 SP3. But I have also observed this with 2.1.

Hi

In our case the we had to align our BW timeout too. Do you have a session timeout on HANA that may cause this?
