Hello,

Transaction SE06 provides the settings regarding the changeability of an object in SAP system
the changeability is controlled by a chain of settings together :

- Global setting(SE06)

- Software Componet Setting(SE06)

- Name space setting(SE06)

- Client setting (SCC4).

Only ALL of the four are open an object can be changed.

Let me explain the meaning of 'global setting'

1) If you set 'global setting' as 'not modifiable', then no change can

be done.

That is the case for Production system and QA system. Because system

administrator want to close production system. All changes must be

done in DEV system and then transported into PRD system.

Only in exceptional case (urgent repair) system admin can open PRD

system temporarily.

2) If you set 'global setting' as ' modifiable' , this is typical for

DEV system.  As mentioned above, it doesn't necessarily mean that

object can be maintained. System admin need further choose which client,

which component , which namespace can be edited in system.

If you just set global setting as "not modifiable" , then no

development and customizing can be done. Using "current setting" you can

still do some customizing work in a closed production system (for detail

you can refer to note 77430 . )

Hi Morales,

Can you tell us what you need to do on SE06 to have to use a function to perform what it does?
