Has anyone got Powerbuilder 11.5 running on Windows 10? For me, the initial splash shows but PB does not start up.

Hi Marie,

I had same problem using PB 12.6. Others share same problem in PB 12.5.

I found a solution on Reddit that works for me. It requires switching between desktop mode and tablet mode while also opening/closing tab pages in my browser.

Here is my workaround:

  1. Start in Desktop Mode
  2. Keep any browser open - you need to follow steps 3 - 7 whenever you start PB IDE.
  3. Start PB IDE - It will get to splash screen and hang...
  4. Switch to Tablet Mode
  5. Switch to your browser; then open or close a tab
  6. Switch back to PB IDE => Now IDE has opened!
  7. Switch back to Desktop Mode

NOTE:

You need a lot of [Alt+Tab] app switching if you [Run] or [Debug] from PB IDE while in Tablet Mode.

I therefore stay in Desktop Mode while developing with PB.

If you [Run] from PB IDE while in Windows 10 Tablet Mode, your PB app will open, but you will see the Start Screen. You will have to [Alt+Tab] back to your running app.

Thanks for you help, Michael.

Switching to Tablet mode and back again did the trick.

For God's sake...isn't there another way to open the PB IDE in Windows 10??? (I am on PB 11.5.1)

It is a solution, however awkward on a Dell XPS 12 tablet/destop unit.
