Netweaver 7.0

According to SAP PAM, Netweaver 7.0 Java stack will be out of support in end 2017.

The latest released version of 7.4 java stack is supported to end 2020. (+3 years)

Are there any of the customers here  on SCN on version 7.0 ? are you moving onto NW7.4 or waiting for the soon-to-be-announce NW7.5?

From what I am reading, Netweaver 7.5 java stack is based on Java EE8 whereas 7.4 is based on Java EE6,

so does that mean the support end date will be beyond 2020 for NW7.5?

Will be nice if any SAP employees here can share some insights,

Hello Lai,

We have to rely on the information avaliable in PAM. End of Support date are maintained there. If they change they will be updated there.

It is up to the customers when they move to a higher level based on their needs and the type support contract they have.

Indeed, NW AS Java 7.4 was developed on JEE 6. To strengthen the long-term support of SAP Java applications there was a need to step up to a higher Java release, which will happen with 7.5 as you wrote. But the support end dates for 7.5 will be again in PAM.

I think it is good to see 7.5 coming as customers wanted Java support for releases above JEE6 for a long time, and now it is here.
