How to control Validity dates via Engineering Record (PLMWUI: ER)?

Hi Gurus

There are multiple standard case type e.g. ECRD , CRED etc.. plus custom case types can also be created which has "Target Run-In date" header field. In standard SAP system this validity date is controlled by ECR/ECO process.

My question is how does this date is carried over to objects (e.g. DIR , Mat BOM etc) if we use PLMWUI:ER.

Not sure if that is achieved by creating change master at some status of ER. If so then kindly guide how.

Kindly explain this validity process control via PLMWUI:ER ?

Thanks in Advance!

Hi Yathan,

You can control the validity dates of lead change number and at the item level number as will using configuration.

SPRO -> Logistics - General ( follow below path)

For a selected ER type, below screen shows tell you when you want system to create a lead change number at what status.

Here you can map the 'target date' to 'valid from' at the header level like below or any header ER attributes.

Similarly at the item level, you can define what status change number to be generated and what attributes of ER to be mapped.

if you need more flexibility you can use below standard BAdi

Hope this helps.

Amar.

Hi Yatan,

the Engineering Record header "Lead Change Number" and the "Target Run-In Date" are used in the standard Engineering Record based ECR/ECO process to:

1. Generate the change master for implementation of the changes requested through the Engineering Record

2. Populate this change master with the change items of the Engineering Record, and its valid from date with the target run-in date.

Now, you can also decide within Customizing of a case type / ER type to not use the lead change number but a dedicated change number per object type, when to generate that change number in the process, etc.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Ulf!

It helps understanding the process flow. However your reply of creating change master "through" ER made me ask another question:

Is there a functionality in SPRO that we can auto create "Lead change number" with attributes + Objects from Engineering record at a given status?

Or

User has to create manually change master >add to ER & kick-off the implementation phase?

Hi Seth,

in SPRO you can configure to create lead change number with specific attributes and also at particular status.

SPRO path.

LOgistics General-Product Lifecycle management- PLM webui-objects- engineering Record- Define settings in Engineering Record.

Select your ER type and click Change number at Header Status.

Hope it helps
