AccAD successor?

Hello AccAD Team - , and ,

I've just checked the SAP Product Availability Matrix and discovered that the Mainstream Maintenance for accelerated application delivery 2.3 for SAP NetWeaver ends on December 31st 2015. Is there any successor product or alternative that SAP recommends? Especially with the raise of HTML5 based applications using SAPUI5 the caching of static content close to the end user is an important topic.

Best regards

Gregor

Hello Gregor,

Thanks for bringing this question to the community here.

For the last couple of years we are working on extending the AccAD technology in a way to address the new challenges beyond the scope of SAP NetWeaver platform. As a result of this we have established OEM partnership with Radware (about: site | wiki). As a result, Radware offers a product called FastView for SAP (details here) that is based on AccAD technology. FastView for SAP supports generic acceleration, acceleration for AccAD for NetWeaver scenarios and for additional SAP-specific scenarios that can not be addressed with AccAD for NetWeaver (e.g. SAP GUI based). FastView for SAP has been features on AccAD space in SCN since March 2013.

As to your specific question

Is there any successor product or alternative that SAP recommends? Especially with the raise of HTML5 based applications using SAPUI5 the caching of static content close to the end user is an important topic.

For customers with significant demands we advice AccAD-based OEM solution like FastView for SAP which can be installed as hardware appliance too; and it can also co-exist with generic WAN acceleration solutions (e.g. Riverbed). In the future, we expect most of the development to happen in the OEM release track of AccAD product as this will be the best way to address the challenges around cloud, HTML5 and the like.

Yet, at least in short-to-mid term we are aware that some customers might demand to continue relying on AccAD for SAP NetWeaver. Because of such cases we might make a new release of AccAD for NetWeaver; the changes will be mainly to support more recent Linux versions, bug-fixes and some minor/required improvements.
