obsolete profile parameter in NW 7.4x

Hi,

has anybody a list of obsolete profile Parameter? I think SAP should deliver this, since it is not clear from RZ10 checks or SAPPFPAR.

e.g. ES/SHM_SEGS_VERSION is unknown but still valid on AIX!

and ROLL_SHM, if set is still used at Startup!

from my Point of knowledge, if you upgrade to NW 7.4x you have to delete Profile Parameter:

ztta/roll_first

ztta/roll_area
ztta/roll_extension

rdisp/ROLL_SHM
rdisp/ROLL_MAXFS

have you more? or a list to an offical list?

pls help

Burkhard

Hello,

ztta/roll_extension is not obsolete!

This parameter is still active and it works if defined!

If not defined, the SAP kernel will use an internal default.

The other four parameters you have mentioned are indeed obsolete and not used anymore.

Setting them has no effect.

Best regards,

Isaías

Hello Burkhard,

I would start reading SAP note 2085980. This note supports your idea about the ROLL memory parameters.

I also recommend reading SAP note 1926986.

Hello Cristiano,

thanks These notes are very helpful.

But anyhow, These doesn't gives more Information about other "obsolete" Parameters. If I run sappfpar check on a Profile that was changed by the SUM. It gives me these warnings (includes the ones I know now):

***WARNING: Unexpected parameter: auth/auth_number_in_userbuffer =9000

***WARNING: Unexpected parameter: gw/flush_term_output =1

***WARNING: Unexpected parameter: gw/max_shm_req =400

***WARNING: Unexpected parameter: rdisp/ROLL_MAXFS =81920

***WARNING: Unexpected parameter: rdisp/ROLL_SHM =40960

***WARNING: Unexpected parameter: rdisp/appc_ca_blk_no =2500

***WARNING: Unexpected parameter: rdisp/dynamic_wp_check =FALSE

***WARNING: Unexpected parameter: rdisp/incr_spa_on_roll =1

***WARNING: Unexpected parameter: rdisp/max_arq =2000

***WARNING: Unexpected parameter: rslg/send_daemon/listen_port =1292

***WARNING: Unexpected parameter: rslg/send_daemon/talk_port =1392

***WARNING: Unexpected parameter: ztta/roll_area =6500000

***WARNING: Unexpected parameter: ztta/roll_first =1

Do you know another source where These are descibed by SAP?

Hello Burkhard,

Maybe the report does not know a given parameter, but it probably exist and have a meaning - not necessarily it is obsolete.

You would have to analyze each individual parameter.

Let me take the first from the list: auth/auth_number_in_userbuffer

The parameter is not obsolete.

The message can be ignored, as described in SAP note 10187 (even though the note is old, it is valid).

Cheers,

Cris
