We tried to login with isql with below command it success

D:\sybase\GSD\OCS-16_0\bin>isql -U sa -S GSD

But when we try login with any other id it gives below error

D:\sybase\GSD\OCS-16_0\bin>isql -U sapsa -S GSD

Password:

Msg 4002, Level 14, State 1:

Server 'GSD':

Login failed.

CT-LIBRARY error:

ct_connect(): protocol specific layer: external error: The attempt to co

nnect to the server failed.

We also tried as mentioned in note 2181942. Also tried manually upgrading kernel and restarting installation still the same error. Also when we try to open D:\sybase\GSD\ASE-16_0\install\GSD   log file it says access denied

Kindly advice  to resolve the issue

Thanks and Regards

Hello,

agree with Cris, you should upload these two files, although I don't think this is related to the -X "password encryption", cause the isql with the sa was working and I would expect also a Msg 1640 before your Msg 4002 that says "Apdative Server requires encryption of the login password on the network". Except you have configured an ISQL part in your ocs.cfg (/sybase/<SID>/OCS-16_0/config).

Did you specified just one password for all logins (sapsa, sapsso and SAPSR3) ? Or are they different ? It might be an idea to 'overwrite' the sapsa password with your sa login:

alter login sapsa with password <sa password> modify password <sapsa password>

go

Then retry to login wiht sapsa, if this works, the password stored in the database are not the correct. You can redo this for sapsso, SAPSR3 and so on also.

You can do this also with sybctrl (see sap note 1796540), but I prefer the old way . So you will use the alter login command and update the secure store also with rsecssfx.

See SAP Note 1706410 for details on how to do it.

Hope this will help.

Kind regards

Stefan

Hello,

FYI, I'm moving this post to space.

Running ASE in a Business Suite environment has specific considerations that should be taken in account, ie, in a BS environment, password encryption is activated by default, so you must use option -X when login into ASE, for example:

isql -Usapsa -S<SID> -X

To know what exact error you have during installation, we need to check:

1) sapinst_dev.log , it should provide you a more detailed explanation about the error occurring during SOLMAN installation.

2) ASE errorlog (\sybase\<SID>\install\<SID>.log)

Thanks

Cris

Hi HP Comp,

Have you checked the note which anand has mentioned and Also do a DBSL library and kernel upgrade in your system as the default shipment DVD does not have the SSFS support.
