Have to restrict Material groups,Material types for a specific user for MM01 & MM02

Hi all,

I want to restrict Material groups,Material types for a specific user for MM01 & MM02. I had given the restriction as below.

But still the user is able to access other Material groups and other Material types.

How is this possible ?

Can anyone help me in this ??

Hi Praveen,

Step 1. Execute SU20 & select transaction with TCODE MM01 / MM02 .

Here you can create activity & group as per your requirements which is to be incorporated in roles as in step 2.Unassign values for object M_MATE_MAR and assign desired activity & group under object M_MATE_MAT authorization object.

Step 3.Go to MM17 & select authorization group where restriction required & update in mass.

Please confirm.

Dear Praveen,

Please consult with MM user and he will tell you exact authorization object and their field to restrict it. check the below authorization object too.

Hi Abdul,

I had already consulted with our MM consultant. They only discussed the above objects. I controlled it, but still the user can able to select other Material groups.

Hi Abdul,

M_MSEG_BWA is related to Movement type , right. I want to restrict the user for Material master creation. i.e, MM01 and MM02.

dear Praveen,

there is main object is M_MATE_STA, If you gave material types and groups to user and did not assign the Maintenance status of material master record under M_MATE_STA then restrictions will not be applied against material types and groups.

Now you have to maintain these objects to restrict the MAT. types and Groups.

M_MATE_STA

M_MATE_MAR

M_MATE_WGR

hi Praveen,

Than may be extra role or profile are assigned to this user.
Please do one thing for confirmation. make a new test role on QAS server and assign the required transaction and manage these three authorization objects. Hope you will get the required result.

Hi Abdul,

I am currently checking in QAS server. Currently i have 5 roles with have these 3 auth objects. Still it doesn't getting restricted.

Hi Praveen,

Could you enable trace for the user through ST01 and share the results for same.In addition check for the authorization object M_MATE_MAR value in other assigned roles to user,best would be to check the value for the object though SUIM and can find assigned roles with values.

Hi Gaurav,

As per you mentioned in above reply when i selected the values fro BEGRU, nothing is coming

and also can you please explain one more time the steps in MM17?

You need to create the required group values for filed BEGRU under transaction SU20,e.g you want to create authorization based on material type (say there are 7 material types) so authorization group can be created like 01,02,03...up to 07 under SU20 (ref image 2 of my previous reply).

Same can be done for material group instead of material type.



explain one more time the steps in MM17?

In MM17 go to field tab to select authorization group MARA-BEGRU and Material group MARA-MATKL.Execute the selection with F8.You can refer images below:

You can also take help of your MM consultant for MM17.

Hi Praveen.

1. You can enable the transaction code ST12 trace check the Material types & group level authorizations object.

2. check the Authorization object in  transaction code SU24, weather you can modification is possible or not. I am not family in SAP MM transactions.

Hi Gaurav,

I have done the following steps in my environment.

1. I have created an authorization group in se54. say ZFER

2. In MM60 , i have checked which all are the MATERIAL TYPES used by our client.

3. Goto ->OMS2-> Select the required Material type -> eg. FERT

    In FERT -> Don't give Authorization group . Leave the field as blank.

4. For all the other Material type, give the authorization type which we created earlier. i.e, ZFER.

5. Also maintain the Authorization group ZFER in respected roles also for the required user.

Then if we select the other material types in MM01, it will show the following message.

Is this Ok?

Is this Ok?

Only the MM consultant or the functional team at your end can mark your steps OK,as 'm bit aware about MM functionalities.
