Is it possible to future date a new hire to have their personnel number assigned so we could have accounts set up and ready to use on the employees first day?
It's possible. You can hire any employee on future date in the SAP. You can able do the creation, changes for any Payroll or Time related information for the employee. SAP has designed in this way and payroll control record is giving permission to do for payroll data update for current payroll period and future payroll period depend upon the payroll control record status (which is directly connect for current payroll period related information update but independent for future payroll related data update).
Yes Future hiring is normal, it has been executed several times by our customer. please go ahead and do it and make sure about the access of that person and everything.
Yes...very possible and very common. Future dated actions (like "hiring") are very possible. Once the employee is "created", you can have everything set up and ready for them so they "hit the ground running" on day one.
