Depot registration (RG23D) without manufacuring plant (factory)?

Former Member

Hi,

From Excise Law perspective, is it possible to have only Depot Registration (RG23D) without having manufacturing plant (Factory) registration?

i.e. to buy excisable goods from local vendor, store in warehouse (depot) and sell those goods to customers (and pass the excise duty as it is to customers).

It is not usual goods movement from manufacturing plant (factory) to depot, and then sales from depot. So, is the above allowed?

(I think, technically it is possible to have such setup)

Thanks,

Amit

Hi,

Your scenario is for Dealer Sale/Agency Sale - The Excise Duty credit availed that needs to be passed on to Customer.

Refer

NOTE: Check how your business deals with Trading Scenario, CIN is applicable or not.

Hi,

In case of DEPO-As per excise law these excise cost should be upload on material cost .

Maintain JMIP condition type i.e 6% and JMX2 100 % for set up.

At the time of GRN this will upload on material cost. and If you have already posted GRN then maintain conditions and J1ID details and then post J1iG t-code for updating of RG23D.

Hi Amit,

You need to configure your plant as depot in CIN settings. Now while doing GR you can do J1IG(RG23D entry) and at the time of sales you can do J1IJ. J1IGA used for any supplementary credit pass on scenario.

Certainly possible. You need to do all the settings similar for Excisable Plant. You can very well trade the goods in Depot and update Excise register RG23D during procurement and pass on the Excise duty during Sale of Trading goods. There should not be any issues in this process.

Do you have any difficulty in configuring the Depot?

Hi Amit,

It is possible in standard SAP. you need to configure in the plant as depot in CIN settings.

When you procure the materials from the local vendor. Based on the vendor excise invoice capture the values in T.Code:J1IG(RG23D register will be updated automatically). When you sell the goods after delivery document creation pass on the excise to customer using T.Code: J1IJ.

There are lot of threads for depot sales which are discussed in the forum. Kindly search for the same in google.

Hi Amit,

Apart from all the replies posted, you will need to maintain the Depot Indicator for Plant.

Tax on Goods Movement-->India-->Basic Settings -->maintain Plant Settings.
