RFC call BICS_PROV_OPEN returned an exception: RFC_ERROR_SYSTEM_FAILURE: Error while parsing XML

Hello everybody,

we have a strange behavior with one (maybee more) of our Queries.

When we run the Query the first time everything is fine. But when we want to open the prombt window we get the following error message and we have to close BO:

Invalid program status\: RFC call BICS_PROV_OPEN returned an exception: RFC_ERROR_SYSTEM_FAILURE: Error while parsing XML

The crazy thing is, when we make a copy of the Query, the new one works without any problems. Now you will say "use the new one" but this isn't so easy becaus the old Query with the error is used in a lot of workbooks.

Two weaks ago we had a release from BW 7.01 to 7.40 - since this moment we have this problem.

We use: BO 2.04.10601

Any idea how we can solve it?

Thank you very much..

Best regards.

Steffen

Also take a look at this SAP Note - it sounds like it may apply: http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/2080796

Hello Tammy,

thank you for the answers.

Note 2080796 doesn't help. We already have Support Package 10 for SAP BW 7.40.

Unfortunately at the moment we have no possibility to try it with AO 2.1 SP2.

Any other suggestions?

Best

Steffen

I'm out of ideas; you could open an incident with SAP support to see if they have other suggestions for you.

Maybe a stupid question... but your old queries are not 3.5 anymore, but 7.0 migrated, right?

Correct, it is a migrated query.

I don't have a real answer, either... just wanted to make sure.

Btw. I found this document: http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-35785

(unfortunately could not find one for 7.40).

Maybe you can try this program once: SAP_QUERY_CHECKER_740 ?

Described in note: http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1911469

Yesterday i tried the program. the result was an overload of the application server 🙂

So we still have the problem and i opened an incident with the SAP support.

But something positiv ... i found out how to trick BO:

When I reset the datasource, the prompt window will open and i can change the variable settings.

So this works untill SAP solved the problem.

Best regards.

Hi Steffen - is there any chance you could try this same query/workbook with Analysis Office 2.1 SP2?
