Use of a Tolerance Key

Hi Experts

I've scoured the forum as well as several other sites to understand how to apply the use of a tolerance key.

I see the table in SPRO. I have assigned CT04 and QS21 MICS. They are linked.

The field for TOLERANCE KEY is grey in every variation I've used, With upper/lower spec., just a lower spec., just an upper spec.as well as a target value only. It was initially a live field, then it was lost to grey. But... I cannot see how to use the tolerance.  Must it be moved first to become useful?

For use of Tolerance key e.g.upper / lower limit your characteristics (while creating in CT04) must be

created in "NUM" format and not "CHAR" format
