Dears,

I get the following error in sybase DBA Cockpit while checking "Database Dump History" :

[ASE Error SQL11277][SAP][ASE ODBC Driver][Adaptive Server Enterprise]Operating system error 2: 'No such file or directory'

Moreover same error is taken when I type the command " sp_dump_history 'list' " in operating system level as expected.

Sybase DB Release:16.0.01.01

Please advice me how to correct the error.

I don't see an option named "Database Dump History".  I see:

enable dump history

and

dump history filename

I would assume you need to set "dump history filename" to a valid filename, before setting "enable dump history".

Hi Kevin,

The dump direction is set correctly in backup configuration like: @stripe_dir = '<direction>'

The sp_dump_history command works well  for other DB releases without setting "dump history filename"

I don't know what a "dump direction" is either.  I assume that you might mean "directory".  The location for your stripe file in a dump configuration has nothing to do with dump history.

More than likely, somebody, or some process has removed/renamed or otherwise corrupted your dump history file.   Find what your setting is for "dump history filename", then look to see if that file actually exists on the operating system.  If not,  I would suggest an ASE reboot.  Otherwise, it's not possible to tell what's wrong with your system from my viewpoint on a message board.

One known cause of the 11277 error with dump history occurs on Windows when $SYBASE ends with a slash character.  If your $SYBASE ends with a slash, try removing the slash and restart ASE.
  (CR 7822316, fixed in ASE 16.0 SP02 )

Do you mean the environment variable %SYBASE% of the user sybes1 (syb<sid>)?

In my case it show as follow

C:\Users\sybes1>echo %SYBASE%

D:\sybase\ES1

I can't see any slash at the end of line.

Is there are a snote for this problem and this fix?

Thanks for help.

It would be the $SYBASE of whatever user booted backupserver.

However, it is also possible there are other causes of this error.
