How to analyze CPU load average in BW system

Hi,

We got an alert that CPU load average(5 mins) is high(617) . Can anybody suggest me how to analyze this.

Hi Sasi,

You would need to identify which process is placing high load on the CPU. It could be a SAP process, DB process or external ones.

Use ST06 -> Top CPU Process to identify the process.

Also check if the load is evenly distributed on all servers (CI, App servers) and balance them evenly (by work process distribution and logon load balacing)

What else we need to if we identified the process form high cpu utilzation (i.e if more than 100% cpu utilization) in ST06.

Logon load balancing is properly configured in the system and it is working fine.

Hi Sasi,

If the identified process is a SAP work process, you will have to simultaneously check SM50 monitor to find out which program and user (corresponding to the process id in ST06)

If the identified process is a DB process, use the DBACOCKPIT to identify the corresponding sql statements.
