The release of the basis types cannot be reset

Former Member

Hello All,

I am getting error while cancelling the release of basic type in WE30.

The release of the basis types cannot be reset

Message no. EA506

Diagnosis

The release can only be reset if the basis type has been released in the current Release. Basis type ZEQUIP has already been released in Release 731, so this release can no longer be removed.

Procedure

Create a successor to basis type ZEQUIP so this new basis type can be further developed.

Can anyone please provide me the solution for this?

Hello,

The error message EA506 means, that you need to create a new IDoc type.

When you do so, you have the option, to make it a successor of the existing type.

To do so, please use the create button in WE30 with a new name (convention is to increase the suffix number). Please then create it as

a successor. In that case you only can add additional IDoc segments, but it is compatible to all newer and older ones.

When finished, please set the release flag for this new type again!

Then it will get the release of the current SAP basis release.

Communication is possible with all systems, which know the new IDoc type and other systems (then without the new segments) as well.

It is the same with any standard IDoc types, e.g. ORDERS01 - ORDERS05.

After creating the successor, you will have to link that new IDoc type to the message types it is used with in transaction WE81.

In general it is not possible, to change a segment definition, which has been created in a previous release.

This concept of the release strategie ensures, that the different releases are compatibal.

You always have to create a new segment definition with a new segment field (with the appropriate length) for your actual release.

For your own segments the new segment versions can be created in the transaction WE31 : "Segment   > Create with template".

Hope this helps.

Regards,

David
