Hi There,

I am using SAP BO 4.1 SP06. We have configured AD authentication with SSO and SSL on the server. Everything is working fine but when I AM trying to connect to BO repository from crystal reports for enterprise 4.1 SP06 it is giving me Unable to authenticate with SSL (HTTPS). For instance, contact your network administrator error.  here is error log.

Can any one please help me solve this issue. I am using crystal for first time. Without SSL I had no issue connecting it to BO. but this is just taking too much of my time. I have attached my connection properties as well.

Hi Happy,

To have Crystal Reports for Enterprise work with a self-signed certificate, you need to install the certificate to the trust store. After adding the certificate to the system keystore or the JRE keystore, you can create a connection in BusinessObjects Business Intelligence platform.

Installing to system keystore/trust store:

Before you install the certificate to the system keystore or trust store, do the following:

● Ensure that Crystal Reports for Enterprise is not running.

● Obtain your certificate information from the browser.

● When installing the certificate, place it in the Trusted Root Certification Authorities store.

1. Start Crystal Reports for Enterprise.

2. Navigate to Edit Preferences Network Settings .    

3. In the SSL settings section, select Use system keystore/trust store and then click OK.

After you have verified the network settings, log on to the BI platform and create a connection with the certificate as the BI platform Web Services Server name.

Installing to JRE keystore/trust store

Before you install the certificate to the JRE keystore or trust store, do the following:

● Ensure that Crystal Reports for Enterprise is not running.

● Obtain your certificate information from the browser.

● When installing the certificate, place it in the Trusted Root Certification Authorities store.

1. In a command window, navigate to \SAP BusinessObjects\Crystal Reports for Enterprise XI 4.0\jre\bin.

2. Type the following: keytool.exe -importcert -alias  -file  - keystore ../lib/security/cacerts

○ alias: your servername

○ file: your certificate file.

For example, you could use the following: keytool.exe -importcert -alias tomcat -file server.cer -keystore ../lib/security/ cacerts

3. Start Crystal Reports for Enterprise.

4. Navigate to Edit Preferences Network Settings .

5. In the SSL settings section, select Use JRE keystore/trust store and then click OK.

Thanks for your reply. I have installed certificate in keystore. I went to browser and installed certificate steps i performed.

Internet explorer --> content --> certificate --> trusted root authorities --> import.

Hi Happy,

I had worked on SSO issues with CR4E in the past wherein I used to replace this jar file "C:\Program Files\SAP BusinessObjects\Crystal Reports for Enterprise XI 4.0\libs\CR\us.jar", however I don't recall what exactly was the reason to replace this file. There was some issues with this jar file in BI4.0.

Either there is something wrong with this file or something is blocking the communication between CR4E tool and BO server.

Try following steps:

- Add the entry for BO server IP and host name in the host file on the non-working client machine.

- Stop the anti virus and windows firewall on the machine where CR4E is installed and on the BO server if there is any.

- Check whether you can connect to this BO server using any other client tool or not from the same client machine.

- If you have multiple NIC on the BO server then try this KBA: 1654640.

This could be an issue with the JAVA as well.

I am not sure whether this will work for you or not but if you want you can try following steps.

- Take the backup of this file: "TomcatInstallDIR\webapps\axis2\WEB-INF\conf\axis2.xml".

- Modify this file to add the HTTPS port.

     < transportReceiver name="https" class="org.apache.axis2.transport.http.AxisServletListener">           <parameter name="port">8443</parameter> < /transportReceiver>

- Save this file and restart tomcat server.

- Test the connection in CR4E.

I have already performed your suggested steps. Initially it was http error but after certificate installation and all now i am facing new error.

Information design tool work perfectly and connects as well. so I dont know now what exact problem is.

it is very interesting to know that when I am putting IP address of the BO server in crystal connection it is giving me https error and when I am putting host name not the host name of BO but something like big ip it is giving the second error.

I tried replacing us.jar file from another machine and tried again still same issue, do you think it is an issue of network and my ip is not in the right domain ??

Did you change the axis file?

Well, if IDT is working is fine then I don't think there must be any network or communication issues.

I don't recall what jar file I had replaced, but SAP can help you with this.

You should use the same version of CR4E which is supported with the BI version you are using.

There was a bug with SSO and Https with CR4E, perhaps this could be a regression of that.

It would be better if you create an incident with SAP support, they must be aware of this issue.

That file should be under the same location what I have mentioned above.

That file is actually for Apache server, so I am not certain where it would be available in the tomcat installation directory. You can try the search option in the tomcat installation directory.

Thanks for getting back to me. Interestingly I have found something very strange which may help us find solution. Lets say I have two environments one without SSL(Server A) and one with SSL (Server B).

Web service URL for both:

Server A : http://ServerA:8080/dswsbobje

Server B : http://serverB:8080/dswsbobje/qaawsservices/biws?

When I look at this I am not sure if this is right. If Server B is configured with SSL my understanding is that port should be 8443.

when I copy server A webservice URL in the browser it redirects me to axis 2 page

and then if i click on services it list me all services. but when I type server 2 web service url it redirects me to QaaWs HTTP Servlet with message "Hi, you have reached the QaaWS HTTP Servlet."  I am not sure if this is what I am expected to see. so i changed that to http://ServerB:8080/dswsbobje

which redirects to me https://serverb:8443/dswsbobje and then it gives me axis 2 page but upon clicking on the services it gives me internal server error which make me think something is wrong somewhere.

do you have anything to comment on this ?
