Warranty replacement scenario

Hi all,

can anyone tell me how warranty replacement is taken care in BYD system?

The process we use:

1) Serialized product gets recorded into Registered Products.

2) When a product return is requested we check the original shipment date of the product to verify whether it is under warranty.

3) If the product is under warranty we create an Inbound Delivery Notification with an ID of RMA-xxx.

4) The customer physically returns the product to us and we record the delivery of that RMA as a receipt. You can receive that inventory into your general inventory pool or create a special RMA logistics area.

5) If the product is under warranty we send that unit back to the customer or one like it. They don't always get the same unit back.

6) We always create a Sales Order at zero cost to transact the returned product out of inventory.

There are other variations of the returns process possible but this one works for us.

What Mechanism we have to trace Supplier warranty for serialized product.

& how to deal with warranty replacement product (with change of serial number)

Also working on how to link together original (now defective) product Serial Number to warranty replacement product Serial Number in the Registered Products module.

Please advise if you have found a solution?
