Limitation in Assembling components

Hello:

In our business, we manage security keys of products as inventory ID in SAP ME, so that we ensure the unicity of keys

But we have some keys that are very long: more than 5000 digits.

We are in 6.0 version , with limitation to 128 digits.

Do you know if greater version allows assembly inventory more then 128 digits , and which limitation ?

What recommandations can you give us .

This is still 128 chars in version 15. I think you need to redesign your solution: a key with 128 characters would provide a truly massive number of possible permutations, even if you only use the characters 0-9, so you cannot surely need 5000 to make these numbers unique? This sounds like it should be stored elsewhere if it's really needed in SAP ME at all, or use a compression algorithm to make it fit 128 characters or fewer.
